| About the RESPECT web pages This website was created by students from Moat Community College and Rushey Mead Secondary School in Leicester, UK. We worked with Soft Touch to create the website and also a set of postcards which are displayed in the Gallery. About Leicester Leicester is a city in the centre of England. It is multi-cultural and multi-faith. 50% of young people in Leicester are from minority ethnic communities. Leicester is a small city with lots of potential. It’s friendly and we want to show you what we think of living in Leicester. Why we made the website and postcards? We wanted to show people where we come from, to make them understand race and racism. We wanted to make people aware of issues and think deeper about them, to gain respect through learning. It shouldn’t matter what your background is in any aspect of your life; school, jobs, socialising, sport, leisure etc. We wanted to show people how to respect other people’s cultures. |
